ecbc Lance Executive Daypack review

Does this pricey bag measure up?

The review

As a longtime travel writer, I appreciate good gear and I found that among the very best is the ecbc Lance Executive Daypack,    At a retail price of $149, it is a bit on the pricey side, but worth every cent.

Everything about this product is first rate.  We all have had experience buying cheapie bags that don't last, the zipper gets stuck or the fabric tears, or better yet: it becomes unzipped just carrying it around. I have had the latter happen in a crowded airport.   Fortunately, a fellow traveler gave me the heads up before disaster.

ecbc Lance Executive Daypack features

You don't have to be a seasoned traveler like me to appreciate what this bag has to offer.   One of ecbc's best features is its "FastPass" system.   That means you won't have to unpack when you go through TSA screening.   All you have to do is unzip the bag, lie it flat, and put the whole thing through the scanner.   This feature could save you a lot of headaches at the airport.    When most of us travel, we are a little sleep challenged and it is easy to run off without remembering to repack that one electronic item back in the bag.    I can recall once getting all the way to the gate before realizing that I didn't have my laptop with me.   Fortunately I hadn't gotten on my flight yet and was able to run back and retrieve it.   This FastPass system saves you that risk.

The ecbc Lance Executive Daypack can easily carry up to a 17" laptop and it has a removable modular insert for smaller laptops making you be able to carry it snuggly, so it won't get jostled around.   Even if you are like me, and carry way too much in your backpack, the strap and back padding makes it very comfortable.  The shoulder straps and back padding have air mesh material allowing the straps to breathe, so you don't develop backpack rash.

The ecbc Lance Executive Daypack has a handy-dandy zip up pocket on the outside that is great for carrying a ticket, passport, or other item that you need to get to quickly.  When you are hurried, it is very easy to drop even essentials like a passport, ID or tickets.

The front inside pocket includes plenty of space for some of your smaller stuff.    It includes a zipper mesh pocket as well as a larger zipper pocket on one side and a number of smaller pockets on the other, ideal for carrying essentials like pens or prescription drugs.  There is also another zippered pouch on that side.

If you don't go anywhere without your iPad or android tablet, fear not, the ecbc Lance Executive Daypack has you covered.   A felt compartment in the bag is designed to carry a tablet while protecting it from scratches.

Another picket right at the top of the ecbc Lance Executive Daypack is ideal for storing your phone, mp3 player, sunglasses or other smaller items.   It is also fleece-lined, so nothing will get scratched.

On either side of the bag, you will find zip-up compartments for beverage bottles.   Most other backpacks use mesh holders for the beverages, but they can easily tear, the ecbc Lance Executive Daypack feature also means no one has to see what you are drinking.   So go ahead and stick the extra can of beer the flight attendant gave you.  You know you will feel like a drink once you get home.

As a seasoned traveler who appreciates convenience, comfort and organization, I  give the ecbc Lance Executive Daypack my highest five star review rating.   It is an excellent product.
